Cluster Love Slouchy- FREE PATTERN

Cluster Love Slouchy

20171010_124412-953372690.jpg

If this hat looks familiar, it is because it’s a new variation of my Granny’s Hugs Toddler Hat. I was recently asked if I could make the hat in an adult size, and after many attempts, without manipulating the pattern too much, this is what I came up with. The changes to the original pattern include yarn type, hook size, and stitch count, however, I think the hat still looks very similar, close to identical, as the original.

I’ve included a few notes (typed in bold) throughout the pattern, in places where you can customize the fit to your personal liking, so please be sure to read through the pattern in it’s entirety before you begin.

You will probably need to switch to a 4.5mm hook, or smaller, for the ribbed cuff, as it will be very loose).

Granny’s Hugs Toddler Hat FREE PATTERN

20170609_112100

This hat will fit a toddler, about the ages 2 1/2 years old to 4 or 5 years old. It would be best to measure the child’s head before setting down to making this hat. It was made according to my daughter’s head size (and the amount of hair she has), which is about 19 inches in circumference. It was also originally intended to be a toddler sized slouchy hat, but with my daughter’s afro it’s more of a beanie (photos of her wearing it are at the end of this written pattern). She is 2 1/2 years old. If you would like to make the hat “slouchier”, simply add a few extra rounds of clusters before making the ribbed cuff. Also, I must note, that the pattern as written takes almost exactly 1 full skein of yarn (170 yards). If you make the hat longer, you will need to buy 2 skeins of yarn.
