Well I did it! I successfully completed my first week in my Make-A-Hat Challenge! If you’re reading about this for the first time, check out my original post which you can read by clicking HERE.
I chose to make a knit hat for my first week. Knitting generally takes me longer than crochet, so it took me almost the whole week, a couple of hours here and there, to get it done. I used Caron Simply Soft yarn in the color Gray Heather. I had a skein of this yarn left over from a sweater that I knit a long time ago, and I just loved it so much. For quite some time I’ve been wanting to turn it into a hat. So, I did! I still have about half of a skein of it left, so there might be another hat using this yarn in the future 🙂
Also, I love to just “wing it” sometimes instead of following a pattern, and I also love to create my own patterns. So I wrote out the pattern and published it on my sister blog, Sometimes, She Knits. But, having said that, I must admit that it’s a very basic, beginner level hat and it probably already exists on other blogs and websites, and books too, or at least in very similar variations.
So, if you’re a knitter and want to check out the pattern, you can find it HERE. I gave it an oh-so-original name too…Easy Knit 2×2 Ribbed Winter Hat, lol.
Have you been working on a hat this week? How did it turn out? I’d love for you to share pics of what you’ve accomplished, even if you’re still working on your hat (and future hats as well!). Feel free to post your photos on the Crochet On The Brain Facebook page, either in a new post or in the comments of any of my Make-A-Hat Challenge posts. Don’t forget to hashtag your post with #makeahatchallenge so we can see all of our hat photos together!
I’m extremely pleased with how my hat turned out. It’s the perfect fit. I’m not sure what I’ll do with it yet…keep it, sell it, gift it, or donate it. Hat season it just about over with where I live, so it’ll most likely be filed away for now 🙂
Now, I’m off to decide what my next hat will be!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
