If you follow the COTB Facebook Page, you’ll know I’ve been working on these baskets for much of the past week (as well as another Springy pattern!).
I was going to wait until these baskets were lined before publishing the pattern, however, I don’t know how long it will take me to buy more fabric for the linings, and then to actually line them, so, I thought that I would share the pattern with you while I wait (and so you don’t have to wait!).
Initially I made a basket using Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn, with a 6mm hook (which you can see a photo of at the end of this pattern). But this yarn is a bit on the expensive side for me (the basket takes almost one complete skein!) for just a simple basket, so I went through my stash of yarns and decided to make a basket using Red Heart Super Saver. To make up the size difference between the two yarns, I held 3 strands of Super Saver together. The basket works up slightly larger using the Super Saver, (you can see the size difference in a photo, also at the end of this pattern).
In the photo above, the basket on the left is made using 3 strands of “Spring Green” Super Saver, and the basket on the right is made using 3 different colors (1 strand of each)- “Lilac”, “Bright Yellow” and “Freshmint”. The basket made using Hometown USA yarn is the color “Hoboken Honey”.
If you are looking for a sturdier basket, I recomend using the 3 strands of Super Saver. Or, you could adjust your hook size and use 2 strands of Hometown USA (which I haven’t tried).
