Little Sweetie Baby Hat- Free Pattern

Little Sweetie Baby Hat by Amanda Bryant

I actually finished making these hats last week, and one of the hats has already found a new home 🙂 . I really need to get organized, and motivated, so I can post my patterns as soon as they’re completed!

Like I said in my previous pattern post for Mandala Scraps Baby Hat, I have been trying to work through my stash of left-overs lately. This Little Sweetie pattern also uses leftovers!

Each of the hats shown used up about a half to three-quarters of a skein of yarn, and I used two different brands of yarn. The multi-colored one is Red Heart With Love and the solid colored hat is Vanna’s Choice. They are pretty similar in thickness. While looking at the photos of them it appears that the Vanna’s Choice hat is smaller than the other, however, when you measure the circumference of the inside of both of the hats, they both measure at 13 inches.

I’m not sure which of the two hats I like better…it depends on my mood! The multi-colored hat looks fun and playful, while the solid color hat is more quiet and simple. (They also remind me of little cupcakes!)

The crown of the hat begins with a few rounds of clusters, followed by one increase round of single crochets, and moves on to half-double-crochet for the body of the hat. The cuff is made with alternating post stitches (3 fpdc followed by 2 bpdc, repeated around).

If you want a warmer hat, I suggest using Red Heart With Love, as it is the thicker of the two. And for the tail end of the cold weather, I would suggest using Vanna’s Choice. However, feel free to try out other brands too!

I have used both of these yarns. I like them both. They are very similar so it would not be a problem to use them together in the same project. Your little hats are so cute. I like the colorful one. I also agree that they look like cupcakes. Just scrumptious! 😀
