What’s Your Cro-Niche?

What do you excel at making? What do you enjoy creating the most? What do you make the most of? Where does your passion lie?

I find that I am perpetually seeking my crochet niche. I’ve been crocheting for at least 12 or 13 years now and I’m still unsure. It seems that I am all over the place. I go through spurts and phases of making one particular thing (like hats, for example), but then I get tired of making that thing and move on to something else.  Right now I’m making a ripple blanket, a lacy doily, a knit crew neck sweater, and designing a crochet sweater/vest/cardigan for my youngest daughter. Just last week I published a pattern for an Easter Gift Bag and before that I made my daughter an amigurumi Kitty Cat.  What I really want is to become proficient at creating one thing, and I want to love making that one thing so much that all I do is make that one thing!

Frequently I see totally amazing crocheters (and knitters!) who have obviously found their niche, and I get jealous. Sometimes it’s because of their high level of skill, but mostly it’s because they show so much passion for that one thing that they do! How do I find that passion?

When I first started crocheting I was in love with amigurumi. I made so many different dolls and animals and just couldn’t get enough of it. I want to find that passion again.

Have you found your cro-niche? If so, how long did it take you to find that one thing you just absolutely love to make?

Perhaps my niche is just “everything”, depending on my mood, the moon’s cycle and the events happening in the world.

I would love to hear your stories and see photos of what you do! Please feel free to share them with me in the comments 🙂
