Bearnabus Bear Crochet Pattern
© 2017 Amanda Bryant
This cute bear is approximately 8 1/2 inches tall. Made with safety eyes and a safety nose, he can be hugged and squished by kids of all ages.
Materials:
Red Heart Super Saver- (Color A) Coffee, (Color B) Warm Brown, (Color C) Black (just a very slight amount for mouth)
3.75 mm crochet hook
12 mm safety eyes
18 mm black safety nose
Polyester Fibrefill
Stitch marker
Yarn needle
Abbreviations Used (American terminology):
ch- chain
sc- single crochet
sc2tog- single crochet 2 single crochet together (decrease)
st- stitch
sl st- slip stitch
beg- beginning
Special Notes:
- This project is worked in the round. Using your stitch marker, mark the beg of each round, and move the stitch marker up as each round is completed/began.
- Do not join at the end of each round, unless individual round instructions specify to do so.
- Gauge is not important in this project, however, be sure to use a hook size small enough so that stitches are very close together ensuring the fibrefill will not show through (I find that using anywhere from a 3.75 mm hook to a 4.25 mm hook works best, depending on the thickness of the yarn you use and how tight your tension is)
- Plastic safety eyes are inserted between rounds 9 and 10, and are set 5 stitches apart from each other.
- The head and body are worked as one piece.
- Stuff the bear with the polyester fibrefill as your work progresses.
- Note that Red Heart Super Saver yarn thickness often varies from color to color, so if you choose to use a different color than I used, the size of your bear might be slightly different from the one I made.

Sl st in the next sc, then fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing the muzzle to face. Using Color C, stitch a line down the muzzle for the mouth, then attach the safety nose, covering the top of mouth line slightly, as is shown in the photo. Sew muzzle to face, positioning it below the eyes as depicted in the photo. Before finishing, stuff the muzzle firmly. Finish sewing, secure the yarn, then weave in the yarn tail into the head.

Round 2- make 2 sc in each sc around (10 sc)
Rounds 3-4- make 1 sc in each sc around (10sc)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. If you’d like to, lightly stuff the tail before sewing it to the body (I had a long beginning yarn tail that I just stuffed inside the tail, rather than using the fibrefill). Using your yarn needle, sew the tail to the backside of the bear, the top edge of the tail positioned at about the 10th round from the end of the body (about round 26 of the body). Secure the yarn and weave in the yarn end.
