Make the 2nd leg as the first, but do not fasten off and do not cut yarn at end of 16th rnd (photo a.) Join the 2nd leg with a sl st to the last sc of the 1st leg (photo b.) Through all thicknesses of sts from 1st and 2nd legs, sc in same st as joining sl st, then sc through all thicknesses of next st from 1st and 2nd legs. (2 sc joining the legs)

Rnd 17: (Now that the legs are joined in the middle, photo c. ) sc in each sc around both legs to form the bottom of the bears body. This will give you 34 sc’s all the way around the bears legs (16 sc from each leg, plus there are the 2 sc’s that join the legs together- remember, 2 sc were used from each leg when they were joined). Do not work any sts in the 2 joining sc’s. Only work in the remaining 34 sts.

And you are done!

Below is a photo of a variety of Baby Bear’s I have made. You can make them taller than the pattern states simply by adding a few extra rounds in the body (rounds 18-29 of the body).
